Due to quick replacement by the F and FS, this model was discontinued and has become rather rare. Beretta USA did not even exist until the military commissioned the M9 as their service pistol for stateside production in 1985. Unlike the more common Beretta handguns out there, these models were not produced by Beretta USA, but rather by Pietro Beretta in Italy. It passed the trials, was chosen for service, and slightly modified and dubbed the SB, but it was ultimately replaced by the 92F, which was later replaced by the 92FS. The prototype developed for the trials was called the 92S-1 and was slightly different from the SB cosmetically, but it was functionally identical. The Beretta 92SB started out as a service pistol specifically for the United States Airforce handgun trials. This is really more of a showcasing of the SB, so that's what I'll be talking about. So here we have a bit of a comparison between the Beretta 92FS and the 92SB.
